The Dearborn family has always grown large gardens for their own food.
Each year the gardens got bigger and bigger, growing a variety of corn, tomatoes, peppers, herbs, cucumbers, summer and winter squash, carrots, beets, lettuce, artichokes, garlic, asparagus, broccoli, collards, kale, cauliflower, okra, spinach, chard, radishes, peas, green beans, melons, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, grapes, onions, potatoes, dill plus much more.
The Dearborn family has leased this land since 2009.
Originally living in the 100 year old home that is part of this 12 acre property owned by the Schoonover family. The home has since been vacated.
The expansion of the farm led to so much extra produce that the Dearborn’s started donating to the community and local food banks. Over the last few years the farm has grown by opening a pumpkin patch on the property and selling our produce at the local farmers markets.
We hope you come visit to learn more about our speciality events including various education programs, kids market day, games, corn maze, pumpkin patch and holiday markets!
About the Machias area
Machias was laid out in 1888, and named after Machias, Maine, the ancestral home of a first settler. A post office called Machias was established in 1892, and remained in operation until 1943.
Machias is in Snohomish County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,178 at the 2010 census.
Centennial trail was once a railroad. Logging cedar was a major industry in Machias. The cedar was milled in the area for “shakes’ for siding and roofs. The OK Mill bridge was named after one of the mills.
Oats were also grown in Machias to feed horses and for straw bedding.
The Machias community now consists of a fire station, mini-market/gas station, church, tavern, elementary school, small family business and homes.
